General:
Q. What is a Pocketmags account? A. A Pocketmags account allows you to access
and read your purchases on multiple devices; including PC and Mac, Apple devices
(e.g. iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) and Android. You can see what formats your favourite
title is available for on the magazine’s page on Pocketmags. An account also protects
your purchases in the case of a lost or stolen device.
Q. How long will my order(s) take to arrive? A. Your purchases will be available
immediately under the ‘My Magazines’ section of Pocketmags online and in ‘My Library’
on the apps. If for any reason this is not the case please contact
help@pocketmags.com
Q. I’ve ordered a subscription when will it start? A. Subscriptions start
from the first new issue released after you take out your subscription. On the iPad
and iPhone if the latest issue is not already in your account and you have purchased
a recurring/ time-based subscription (e.g. 12 months, not 12 issues) then the latest
issue will be added to your account. If you have purchased an issue based subscription
(e.g. 12 issues) or a back issue bundle on an android device, iPad or iPhone then
these can be used on any issues which have already been released simply by clicking
on the issue price and selecting Yes when prompted to use a credit. If you would
like to use some of your subscription as ‘credits’ for back issues on the PC/ Mac
please contact
help@pocketmags.com with
your username (email) and which issues you would like.
Q. Why are my purchases not showing up on my new/ other device? A. You need
to login to your Pocketmags account on each app and device which you use. This will
then sync your purchases.
Q. How do I send my purchase as a gift?

Apple apps:
Q. How do I download the app for my title? A. If an app is available for
your favourite title the App Store logo will appear on that title’s page on Pocketmags,
simply click on the logo to go through to the App Store. Each app comes with one
issue included in the price.
Q. My app won’t load past the splash page, how can I fix this? A. Simply
delete the app (by holding your finger on the app logo until it wobbles and then
clicking the cross) and then redownload it from the App Store (this will be free
of charge as the purchase is linked to your iTunes account).
Q. I’ve made a purchase but the issue/ subscription hasn’t appeared in my account.
A. If you haven’t already, please register a Pocketmags account by clicking login/register
in the top right corner of the app homepage and then contact
help@pocketmags.com stating your username and the problem.
Q. When I click Read the pages are black but the navigation still works? A. This suggests that you may be running low on capacity on your iPad and the iOS is auto-deleting content. Please free up some space on your iPad if applicable and then delete the issue and redownload it – to do this click ‘My Library’ (the second tab at the top) and click the red cross next to the issue in question. If this doesn’t resolve the problem please contact
help@pocketmags.com with details of the problem.
Q. I’ve downloaded an issue but it won’t load/ has wrong/ missing pages, what do
I do? A. Please delete the issue and redownload it – to do this click ‘My
Library’ on the iPad and click the red cross next to the issue in question, on the
iPhone click on the issue name and then select delete from the sub menu. If this
doesn’t resolve the problem please contact

Q. I’m getting a connection error when I try to setup a new account, what can I do?
A. In this case the best thing to do is sign up at
www.pocketmags.com/register.aspx and then login to the app using these account
details*. *If you are an i newspaper user please see below.
Q. I’m getting a connection error when I try to setup a new account on the ‘i Newspaper’ app, what can I do?
A. In this case the best thing to do is sign up at
www.pocketmags.com/independent/register.aspx and then login to the app
using these account details.
Q. Why do I need to pay to download the app? A. The app comes with one issue
of your choice included. Further single issues or subscriptions can be purchased
within the app. If you are buying the app having made purchases on Pocketmags already
be sure to select an issue you don’t already have as your included issue!
Q. How do I cancel a recurring subscription? A. Open the app store on your
device, go to the ‘featured’ page, scroll to the bottom and click on your apple
id. Enter your password and then click manage subscriptions, here you can turn auto-renewal
off.
Q. How do I download last year’s/ older issues? A. If available, you can
press the down arrow on the magazine selection window to go through the years on
the app.
Android apps:
Q. How do I download the app for my title? A. If an app is available for
your favourite title the Marketplace logo will appear on that title’s page on Pocketmags,
simply click on the logo to go through to the app page for that title. Each app
comes with one issue included in the price.
Q. How do I login to my Pocketmags account on the Android apps? A. The Android
apps will prompt you to login/ register on start-up.
Kindle Fire:
Q. Unable to find / download Pocketmags app? A. If you are unable to find the
Pocketmags app on your Kindle Fire or get an error while trying to install it, we have
a temporary solution to download the app directly to your Kindle Fire. Instructions for
installing the app can be found
here.
Q. Page not found when logging in? A. To view the Pocketmags website correctly
and to make purchases first please disable Accelerate Page Loading. To do this,
from your browser, press menu, then settings and uncheck ‘Accelerate Page Loading’.
This will enable the Pocketmags website to work correctly and you will also likely
notice an improvement to your general web browsing speeds. If you choose not to
uncheck this setting then you can view purchases which you have made on a separate
device, and use the pocketmags app to view your purchases (you just will not be
able to make purchases on the Kindle Fire)
Pocketmags online info:
Single items Single items are delivered shortly after your payment is completed
and will appear in the My Magazines section of your account. Some items can require
extra processing time and may take up to 24 hours to appear. You will receive a
confirmation email from PocketMags and receipt email from Barclays during this period.
Please contact us if you item does not appear within 24 hours.
Subscriptions Subscription items are delivered the same way as single items
with the content served according to the publisher's schedule over the period advertised
(for example, a publisher may publish their editions to your subscription once a
month, twice a month, or bi-monthly). A subscription will start from the next released
issue and will appear in My Magazines from the release of the next issue. If you
would like your subscription to start from the current issue (or further back) please
contact help@pocketmags.com stating your username and request. If you purchase a
subscription you will have access to previous publications once the subscription
ends, but will not receive any new publications.
Credit Card Retention: Pocket Mags does not keep your credit card information
on file after your transactions are complete. Each transaction that you make will
be sent to Barclays - where your credit card information is stored.
Online reader: Digital issues are viewed in-browser using the Microsoft Silverlight
plugin. This plugin is freely available for most web browsers on both PC and Mac.
An active internet connection is required while reading an issue. The online reader
includes many new features, including on page videos, image galleries, hyperlinks
and page jumps. Pages can be printed using the print menu on the reader (printing
can take up to 1 minute, in this time your browser may become unresponsive).
