Perspective from Experience

One of the reasons I’m so passionate about motorcycle travel is that I like surprises, but I really enjoy the preparation stage, too. That for me is where an adventure begins. I love the research: finding out about the road possibilities, visas, local customs and cultures, weather patterns, fuel availability and so on. Prep equals multiple layers of fascination and I find it all quite magnetic. Prep gets my curiosity antennae twitching.

The information is at our fingertips, and research from the comfort of my home allows my brain to soak up the possibilities of the journey to come. It’s exciting, but it also allows me to be free enough when I’m actually on the move, to deal with those unexpected moments which wing in from the sidelines.

Bad fuel is one of the main issues you’ll deal with when it comes to touring on EFI (electronic fuel-injected) motorcycles in less developed countries.
