Aeroflot announces new engine overhaul facility

AEROFLOT IS planning to build a new engine repair shop at Moscow/ Sheremetyevo to overhaul CFM International CFM56 engines. The new facility will also cater for Russia’s homebuilt Aviadvigatel PD-8 and PD-14 powerplants, which will power the new Yakovlev SJ-100 and MC-21 narrowbodies. These are scheduled to begin arriving in 2026, Sergei Alexandrovsky, the airline’s CEO, told the local Russian newspaper Kommersant.
