Manufacturers forecast doubling of fleet
BOEING, AIRBUS and Embraer each released their 20-year commercial market forecasts ahead of the Paris Air Show, projecting strong long-term growth in global air traffic and aircraft demand through to 2044.
Boeing predicts demand for 43,600 deliveries. Passenger traffic is expected to grow by 4.2% annually, more than doubling by 2044. Boeing foresees 33,285 single-aisles, 7,815 widebodies, 1,545 regional jets and 955 freighters. It estimates that 80% of deliveries will replace existing aircraft. Emerging markets will account for over half the global fleet by 2044, up from 40% today.
