Qantas to close Jetstar Asia

AUSTRALIAN FLAG carrier Qantas has announced the closure of its Singapore-based low-cost subsidiary, Jetstar Asia. The airline group said it had faced “growing challenges” with rising supplier costs, high airport fees, and intensified competition in the region. This, Qantas said, “fundamentally challenged the low-cost airline’s ability to deliver returns comparable to the stronger performing core markets”. Jetstar Asia is expected to post a loss this year. Its final day of operation was due to be July 31, 2025.
