AIR CANADA will be the launch customer for the new Airbus Airspace A220 cabin, including new larger overhead bins, with deliveries starting in early 2026. According to the manufacturer, the cabin has the widest seats, aisle and largest windows in its class. The new XL bins offer 20% more volume than its predecessor, yet are 10% lighter and will enable a faster turnaround by being easier to handle. The cabin lighting includes an optional third LED light strip beneath the new bins, contributing to the “great cabin ambience.” Other benefits include: “Increased reliability and reduced maintenance tasks due to the simplified movable mechanisms [and] enhanced passenger comfort by easing the boarding experience.” The manufacturer has also taken the opportunity to develop an improved passenger service unit in line with Airspace design.
