ATR HAS signed a contract with Canadian hydroelectricity provider, Hydro-Québec, for the sale of three ATR 72-600s plus options, with deliveries scheduled from September 2026. The aircraft will replace older generation turboprops which the power supplier uses to transport staff around its network of 62 hydroelectric generating stations scattered across the province. The manufacturer stated the deal “highlights the growing momentum for the ATR 72-600 in Canada, after Rise Air became the launch customer of the type in November 2024.” Alexis Vidal, ATR’s senior vice president commercial, said: “By selecting the ATR 72-600, Hydro-Québec has opted for the lowest-emission regional aircraft on the market, emitting 30% less CO2 than competing turboprops and 45% less than regional jets. This significant advantage underscores their commitment to operational efficiency and environmental stewardship.”
