Superjet safety recommendations
RUSSIA’S INTERSTATE Aviation Committee has requested that the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) “consider the feasibility” of modifications to the Yakovlev SJ-100 (formerly known as the Sukhoi Superjet 100) to improve safety. The recommendation comes following the inquiry into the crash of an Aeroflot example at Moscow/ Sheremetyevo on May 5, 2019. The requested modifications include alterations to the design of the landing gear and the implementation of measures to reduce fuel spillage should the undercarriage collapse.
