THE US has lifted some sanctions on Belarusian carrier Belavia, as part of its effort to “fully normalise” relations with Minsk. The move comes after Belarus released 52 political prisoners, which included several foreign nationals. According to the US State Department, the airline will still be under sanction by the US, but will receive some relief to enable it to service and buy components for its existing fleet. According to ch-aviation, Belavia currently fields 19 aircraft, which include Boeing 737-300/800s and MAX 8s, as well as several Embraer jets.
