ONE OF the UK’s biggest airport operators has posted its latest passenger figures – with mixed outcomes across its three gateways. The general trend is positive, with Manchester Airports Group (MAG) handling 85% of pre-pandemic passenger numbers in July, compared to 82% in May and 84% in June.
MAG also runs London/Stansted and East Midlands airports. Data suggests 5.5 million passengers travelled through its terminals across the allimportant holiday month, an increase on the 5.2 million reported in June. The star performer was Stansted, which handled 90% of its July 2019 passenger numbers, totalling 2.5 million. The picture was slightly less upbeat in Manchester, where 82% of pre-pandemic traffic was reported. East Midlands tailed the trio, with just 73.1% of its July 2019 travellers returning, although cargo traffic remained robust.
