Lufthansa Technik marks milestones
Lufthansa Technik has announced two significant developments: breaking ground on a new engine maintenance facility at Calgary Airport in Canada and extending key support agreements with Air Canada.
The facility at Calgary will include a state-of-the-art repair shop and engine test cell to support Lufthansa Technik’s customer base in North America and is being developed in partnership with the airport under a $87m deal. The facility will support the MRO’s subsidiary Lufthansa Technik Canada’s operations. An 150,000sq ft engine repair shop is expected to be completed in the next two years and will focus on near-wing and quick-turn services for CFM International LEAP-1B engines, powering North America’s growing Boeing 737 MAX fleet. Both the engine repair shop and the test cell are due to be completed in 2027.
