RUSSIA’S AGENCY for air transport, Rosaviatsiya, has granted permits to Aeroflot and Rossiya Airlines to commence regular passenger and cargo services to Armenia’s second largest city, Gyumri. According to Russia’s TASS news agency, Aeroflot will offer daily flights from Mineralnye Vody to Gyumri/Shirak International Airport. Meanwhile, Rossiya will serve the city from Sochi, also on a daily basis. No details have been released regarding which aircraft will fly the routes. Until now, only Aeroflot’s low-cost subsidiary, Pobeda, had been approved to operate flights to the Armenian city, which is located near the Turkish border. Pobeda previously operated the Sochi-Gyumri route four times a week, starting in October 2023.
