Final report on Alaska blow-out
THE US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its final report on the in-flight depressurisation of Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 on January 5, 2024. The incident – a port side mid-cabin door-plug blow-out beside the unoccupied seat 26A – involved Boeing 737 MAX 9, N704AL (c/n 67501), and took place six minutes after takeoff from Portland at an altitude of approximately 16,000ft. There were 171 passengers and six crew members on board, all of whom survived, some with minor injuries. The aircraft had been with the airline since October 31, 2023, and was returned to Boeing after the incident.
