Split-scimitar retrofit for Jet2
UK LEISURE carrier Jet2 is expecting to complete the retrofit of a split-scimitar winglet modification programme on its Boeing 737-800 fleet this summer. The Leeds-based airline has a fleet of 98 737-800s and is retrofitting dozens of them with the fuel-saving winglets to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. The remedial work on 60 aircraft was completed by early May and the airline expects to finish the work this summer. Boeing claims the winglets lower fuel consumption by around 2% as they reduce vortex drag and generate lift.
