One’s EDC contains necessary tools and equipment that help get their job done throughout the day.

When you head out to start your day, what gear do you consistently have on yourself? Do you carry a bag or backpack? Do you keep it minimal or are you kitted up to take on any situation? What one’s every day carry setup looks like can be as varied as their personality, profession and interests.

For some, EDC is just that. It’s a collection of items that they carry on a daily basis. Most of it is necessary tools and equipment that help get their job done throughout the day. For others, EDC is an all-encompassing lifestyle. For them, the idea of EDC is wide open and covers many aspects of their lives, not just what’s in their pockets.

For us, it’s always interesting to see what someone carries on them day in and day out. We think a large reason why people have an inherent interest to see someone else’s EDC setup is because of our love for gear. We’re gadget-loving people and EDC gear is interesting stuff to look at and, when possible, to handle and use. For the most part, what one chooses to carry has been thought out by the carrier, due to limited pockets or other storage space, and the plain fact that they need to carry whatever they choose on themselves throughout the entire day. Seeing someone’s choice in carrying a particular item can help us decide which item to carry as well.

On the following pages, we take a look at four different EDC flat lays from four people that have differing lifestyles. Pay attention to what items they carry. Some items are universal to all four users, while other items don’t get repeated in any of the four setups.

That’s probably because there are some professions or hobbies that require very specific tools to be carried, while others don’t. But before we dive into those EDCs, the following is a breakdown about what factors to consider when selecting popular items to carry as part of your EDC setup.

If you don’t already carry a knife, we highly suggest getting yourself one. If you carry one already, you know just how useful they are in your daily routine. Instead of being a caveman and ripping your Amazon box open or spending much too long trying to open one of those irritating plastic clamshell packages, the sharp blade of a knife can simply and easily slice it open for you. Knives have a ton of uses other than that, as well, especially if you find yourself in an emergency situation. Using one as a defensive weapon is another obvious use. There are plenty of different kinds of knives out on the market. Find one that fits your style and needs. A good place to start your search is by looking at folding bladed knives equipped with pocket clips that are conveniently carried and deployed anytime you need them.
