Don’t forget the storage costs side of transparency debates

MADAM – I write with regard to the debate in ATG’s letters pages about transparency around auction house charges. I have been buying and selling at auction since 1981, having worked at Bonhams and Phillips, Son & Neal.

I buy over 100 to 150 lots a month on various auction sites, so parcels are coming and going.

After a recent bruising experience with an auction house on storage charges, I feel these costs need to be added to the transparency debate.
