MADAM – Constance King’s reminiscences of Christie’s South Ken (ATG No 2285) mention the difficulties of parking outside to load one’s purchases.
CSK founder chairman, the late Bill Brooks, often stood at the front door in a proprietorial/welcoming stance and was there one day when I came out to find a parking ticket on my car. I spoke to the warden responsible who immediately removed the ticket. “I’ve never seen that before,” said Mr Brooks, somewhat amazed.
What he didn’t know was that 10 minutes earlier, the warden had given me 10 minutes to fetch my stuff, but had forgotten.
