This weekend Oxford hosts the PBFA’s 100-dealer antiquarian and out-of-print book premier fair, one of the largest in the association’s calendar. It is held at the Oxford Brookes Wheatley Campus on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23.
One of the highlights on offer is the three-volume The Tomb of Tut-Ank-Amen by Howard Carter, inscribed on the first volume with the compliments of Mr Harry Burton.
Fair exhibitor Michael Kemp, a bookseller from Kent, has priced it at £5000. Harry Burton, an English art photographer, was one of the first people Carter contacted after he and the Earl of Carnarvon made their spectacular discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1923.
