A classic metaphysical fantasy novel that sold poorly when first issued but later influenced the works of CS Lewis and gained many admirers, A Voyage to Arcturus is the work of David Lindsay.
The example shown left is one of the 600 first issue copies of 1920. Rarely seen in the Methuen dust jacket, it sold way over estimate and at a record £6000 in a Dominic Winter (19.5% buyer’s premium) sale of December 15.
