Like many businesses scarred with bomb damage in post-war Britain, Lyons teashops were in need of cheering up.
In 1947, the directors of Lyons turned to Britain’s up and coming young artists and commissioned them to brighten up the interiors of these teashops with a series of poster designs. From 1947-55, three series were issued containing the designs of some 30 artists, including those by LS Lowry, Edward Bawden, William Scott and John Nash.
