Dangerous A83 bend set for major improvement works

SIX MONTHS of work is set to start to improve the notorious Strone Point bend on the A83 near Inveraray.

BEAR Scotland, under contract from Transport Scotland, said that the £1.55 million scheme on the trunk road ‘will improve the radius of the bend and widen the carriageway for the benefit of all road-users’.

The area has a history of serious road traffic accidents, many of which have been fatal, over many years. Of particular recent concern has been the number of incidents involving motorcycles.
