A FERRY summit is to be held on Islay after recent disruption caused problems for islanders and visitors.
Hosted by Argyll and Bute MSP Michael Russell, the meeting in October will be held in conjunction with Islay Community Council ferry committee.
The announcement comes after two weeks of cancellations and disrupted traffic caused by damage to the MV Hebridean Isles. The vessel struck Kennacraig Pier on Saturday July 23 and was taken to dry dock for repairs. This meant the service was operated by a single vessel, the MV Finlaggan, from that date until Tuesday August 9. The MV Finlaggan was without a fully operating mezzanine deck as the deck has been out of action for several months and can only be installed manually which required more time than is possible on the present timetable.
