THE JOINT campus was jumping as Mid Argyll Athletic Club held its annual indoor competition in the games hall.
Last Sunday’s event was the first of a series of local area competitions being held in Argyll this winter.
There were several impressive performances throughout the three hours of action and intense competition. The under-nine girls’ contest attracted an entry of 12 girls and resulted in Lochgilphead’s Jorja MacDonald winning by a clear margin. Jorja won four events outright and also shared first place in an exciting six-lap race, with Sara Bakali from Inveraray in 55.7 seconds. Jorja won the three-lap race in 25.5 seconds and also won the triple jump, javelin and speed bounce. Sara won the long jump and was second in an exciting high jump contest won by Beth John-stone from Tarbert who cleared 1.06 metres, only four centimetres below the Argyll age record.
