Arnicle ewes are top at Dalmally breeding sale

UNITED Auctions had a catalogued entry of 9,983 sheep at the firm’s annual breeding sheep sale at Dalmally Auction Mart. A busy ringside of buyers was presented with a selection of quality stock in all sections.

The lead price of the day went to Messrs McArthur, Arnicle, for a pen of six at £680 per head.

The sale averages in the various sections were: Cross bred gimmers £96.86 (-£3.01 on year); Blackface gimmers £97.30 (+£0.93); Cross bred ewes £45.84 (-£8.36); Blackface ewes £48.05 (-£5.27); Cross bred ewe lambs £50.05 (-£5.18); Blackface ewe lambs £54.77 (+£8.45).
