Want to create Tarbert’s own fruit orchard?

FRUIT could be growing on the slopes around Tarbert Castle.

Close to the community woodland and sculpture walk, work has begun on a new orchard behind the castle.

Tarbert Castle Trust secretary Robert McPhail said: ‘We have received funding assistance from Infinis Energy, Awards for All and Argyll and Bute NHS Wellbeing Fund to develop this innovative project to grow our own fruit. The land, though well located in a sheltered spot, requires considerable preparation to improve fertility, drainage and protection from deer and rabbit damage.
