RED STAR Football-Club travelled to Neilston on Saturday to take part in their annual pre-season tournament, involving fellow SAFL sides Neilston AFC, Kings Park Rangers and Port Glasgow OBU.
After a few late calloffs, Star travelled with 14 players for the round robin event which meant manager Moore would be able to give the travelling party plenty of game time. The matches were 25 minutes each way, making for some fast-paced action and this was the case as Star took on hosts Neilston in the first match. A classic game of two halves, Neilston probably edged the first half, with Star having the better of the play in the second 25 minutes. Naisby went closest to scoring for Star, but his effort was blocked by the legs of the Neilston keeper who ensured the match finished 0-0.
There was no rest for the Lochgilphead side as they were straight back on against Kings Park Rangers.
