New hope toilets can be saved

There is renewed hope this week that all the public toilets on Arran could be saved.

In a dramatic u-turn councillors this week referred the issue back to the new North Ayrshire Council cabinet which is likely to reconsider the decision later this month.

It is yet another twist in the shambles which has followed the closure of the island’s public toilets in April.

But there was a warning from Arran Community Council chairman Bill Calderwood when they met this week. He said:
