MV Glen Sannox has been chosen as the name for new Arran dual fuel ferry which will come into service next year.
It was a landslide winner among a shortlist of four names, receiving nearly 50 per cent of the votes in a competition organised by owners Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) to select the new vessel’s name. The other names were Hutton, Goatfell and Glen Iorsa.
The 102-metre ferry is the first of two dual fuel vessels currently being built by CMAL at the Ferguson Marine Engineering Ltd (FMEL) shipyard in Port Glasgow. The ferry will be capable of operating on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and marine gas oil (MGO).
