Herding cattle

Sir,

As we all know, there is little point in complaining to CalMac directly, so I thought I would air my views here. Why, oh why, have we got to line up like cattle to get onto the boat? It’s bad enough standing in a long line in the pouring rain waiting for the man to scan each individual ticket, without being made to walk round a maze of fencing designed to keep us in line.

On Wednesday (farmers show day and as such notoriously wet) some of us waited in the terminal for the queue to die down (keeping dry) before passing the man with a ticket scanner, who instead of letting us hand our tickets in and walk on made us walk round the fencing in a pointless and frankly ridiculous exercise. There was no queue to join so why make us walk all the way round? Madness. As one of the CalMac operators agreed, we are not cows or sheep and should not be treated as such.
