Strike action

Threatened strike action by CalMac ferry crew was averted six weeks ago. Now, following a ballot, it has been completely called off. Another threat looms though as ships offi cers might take industrial action.

At the annual round of wage negotiations, the Western Isles offi cers agreed to terms but the Clyde offi cers did not. The present position is that NUMAST, the offi cers’ union, has refused to accept CalMac’s terms and the company now awaits the union to come back to them.
