Talks are to be held to decide the future of the anvil which was heroically hauled up Goatfell.

What should happen to is has divided opinion, with hundreds of local residents already signing a petition urging the National Trust for Scotland not to remove the anvil.

The 18-and-a-half-stone anvil, which was hauled to the top of the 2,866ft mountain by Davy Ballatyne, with the help of Fraser Aitchison, to raise money for type 1 diabetes research, is currently still sitting on Goatfell’s peak - where it is likely to stay over the summer.
