Clauchlands is favoured site in search for new helipad

A site is being sought for a vital new helipad on Arran needed for medical emergencies.

The previous helipad in Brodick had to be closed to allow construction of the £22.2 million ferry terminal redevelopment. Air ambulance transfers and the new Coastguard search-and-rescue helicopter are presently using Sandbraes Park in Whiting Bay as a temporary landing site.

It had been thought that the helipad may reopen in Brodick once the terminal work was completed next summer. However, this has now been ruled out as the ferries will be too close to the flight path and the helipad in Market Road is in a rundown state.
