Parking has become a big issue on the island. Since the introduction of RET fares, the number of cars, motorhomes and other vehicles coming to the island has increased dramatically.
But they all need somewhere to park. There is no doubt a lot of drivers come to Arran and throw the Highway Code and a good deal of common sense out the window when they drive off the ferry. They appear to think the laws of the road somehow don’t apply on Arran.
The situation has been compounded in Brodick by the closure of the car park at the ferry to allow construction of the new terminal. This has seen cars using and abusing Market Road as well as other car parks near the ferry terminal never designed for ferry traffic. And it’s not just visitors who are causing problems but local residents too.
