Arran Open Studios weekend saw huge numbers of visitors and supporters who visited the various galleries and artists’ studios around the island earlier this month.
The island-wide event, now in its sixth year, allows visitors to follow an art trail around Arran where crafts people and artists open house, and collaborative exhibitions are held. A high-quality booklet contained artists’ information and studio details directing visitors to the clearly-marked 39 venues where visitors could pop in for a chat with the artists, view the artworks on display or purchase some of their favourite artworks.
Exhibitors ranged from drawing and painting to sculpture, pottery, embroidery and jewellery-making and pottery among many others. Some of the studios are open throughout the year as part of an established Arran Art Trail which has developed owing to the success of the open studios weekend, which is growing larger every year.
