Lamlash Golf Club
Friday, July 22. The inaugural E I Cannon Memorial Tournament was held at Lamlash golf club in glorious weather and many competitors congratulated the club on the condition of the course. Golfers from most parts of the island represented Shiskine, Machrie Bay, Whiting Bay, Corrie, Brodick and Lamlash golf clubs.
A total of 51 took part raising £255 for a charity of Nancy’s choice. A 50p sweep was held for magic twos with seven sharing the spoils, the most remarkable being Todd Jameson who drove the 330 yard 6th green and holed a rather lengthy putt negotiating the greens hollow. Craig MacEachan, who served his apprenticeship at Lamlash, travelled from Aberdeen to take part, marking his respect for Eddie. Three teams registered a score of 82 points, captained by Danny Head, Paul Jameson and Ian Bremner. The winning team of captain Scott Campbell, Iain Murchie, Joe Rae and Scott MacFarlane, scored a creditable 85 stableford points, the best two scores of the four man team being recorded at each hole.

Winners of the Lamlash Ladies Open: l to r, Clair Barclay, Jean Barclay, captain Jennifer McArthur and Lesley Handley.
The format of the day’s event was enjoyed by most of the field.
A good number of the players were present at the prizegiving when Nancy was present and her son Edward presented the superb claret jug, donated by the family, to the winning team.
