A long-serving island teacher has retired from Shiskine primary school.
Susan Dobson has spent almost her entire teaching career at the school and left this week after 28 years. Originally from Kilmarnock the mum of three has taught all ages at the school and even joked she had taught ‘a generation of children and then their children’. When she joined the Shiskine staff in 1989 there were 60 children which has today dropped to a roll of 32, plus seven early years pupils.
A special presentation was made to Mrs Dobson by the parent council at the school sports day and picnic on Monday before the school broke up for the summer holiday. Mrs Dobson said she had no immediate plans for her retiral but will still be involved with the school through the various committees she is on.
