George given national role

Ayrshire born George King has been named by a national nautical charity as its new area officer for the north of the UK, which covers Arran.

George, a former Royal Navy petty officer has been appointed by the Maritime Volunteer Service (MVS).

A member of the Northumbria unit George spent 18 years in the Navy as a weapons engineer, working around the world with the service including time spent in the Falkland’s conflict.
