The loony dookers of Brodick Bay

More than 50 loony dookers braved the icy waters of Brodick Bay on New Year’s Day for the now traditional Douglas Dook.

Being held for the sixth time, the dook attracts locals and visitors, some of whom have taken part ev ery year. The waters were choppy this year but, while cold, the day was bright and sunny as the dookers headed to the slipway from the Douglas Hotel, led by a Chinese dragon.

A large crowd of onlookers had gathered by the time the plunge began with some dookers staying in the water longer than others.

Then it was back to the Douglas for free soup for the dookers to warm them up.
