A celebration of all eco action on Arran was combined into The Big Arran Green Show last week, writes Colin Smeeton.
Eco Savvy and the Arran Community Land Initiative joined forces for the event in Whiting Bay hall with the assistance of the Climate Change Fund. The day, which was also supported by Greener Scotland, provided school children and visitors with fun activities and useful information.
Providing a healthy amount of excitement, almost 150 pupils from primary schools on Arran received a tub of ice-cream on arrival which they enjoyed while watching an education film on food miles. The tubs were then washed out, filled with soil and rocket seeds were carefully planted before being individually marked for each pupil to take home with them.
