Christmas came early to the streets on Brodick on Sunday when the annual Santa Dash 5k run was held.
Organised by Arran Run coach Laura Aitcheson and Jean McInnes, organiser of the Whiting Bay run group, 15 runners donned their Santa, elf, snowman, fairy and other assorted costumes to run through Brodick, getting supporting cheers from passers-by and the sounding of car horns. The course was carefully marshalled by Gordon McInnes, Chris Hogge and Jessica Mcguire.
The runners then retired to the Douglas Hotel for a prizegiving and quiz. Although a fun event, there was, as always, an element of competition and the men’s winner was George Doubleday, back from university to claim the prize. The female winner was Sue from Whiting Bay.
