From Sunday, July 17 to Sunday, July 24 the Scottish Episcopal Church on Arran is sponsoring a week of events with the theme: ‘Arran contemplation: exploring spirituality, creativity and silence’.
Though there will be daily services throughout the week, the aim is to appeal to as wide a public as possible, and many of the events will be of interest to those who are neither Episcopalians nor even committed Christians. The week will be led by Canon Simon Mackenzie, in charge of St Margaret’s in Whiting Bay, but based in Lochgilphead. He will be assisted for the week by Jonathan Livingstone, an outstanding student training for the ministry with the Scottish Episcopal Institute.
Events will include a ‘conversation’ in Whiting Bay Hall betweeno representativeso of the arts on Arran, not all believers by any means, and Canon Mackenzie, with the theme ‘creativity, silence and the spirit’, as well as a talk by Jonathan Livingstone in Brodick Library entitled ‘entering silence’.
