Artists are beginning to respond more and more to disasters or threats of disaster such as earthquake, volcano, tsunami, fire, flood, oil spills, nuclear meltdown and the threat of environmental collapse.
From the global economic crisis to climate change, we're made aware of the extent of the crises we are part of and the strength needed to survive the results of catastrophic events.
We look at creative responses in regeneration and renewal. The spirit of morale-building is revealed in exhibitions and projects after the bushfires and floods of 2010 and 2011, Hurricane Katrina, the 9/11 disaster, and the Christchurch earthquakes.
