YELENA ISINBAYEVA has vowed to restore Russia’s athletics federation back into the IAAF after she confirmed she would run for its presidency.
The double Olympic champion announced her retirement from the sport after the All-Russia Athletics Federation (ARAF) had its Olympic ban upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
“I’ve made a decision I should lead our athletic federation and restore its foothold in the International Association of Athletic Federations,” she told Russian agency TASS.
Dmitry Shlyakhtin, current ARAF president, is yet to decide whether he will run for the post.
