HALF-MARATHON

IT WAS the day of Portugal’s greatest ever sporting triumph as their football team won the Euro title in Paris but they also had a great day of athletics, which started on the roads of Amsterdam.

Sara Moreira, the 2013 European indoor 3000m champion, took the women’s title in 70:19, having too much speed in the closing stages for front-running Veronica Inglese of Italy.
