CONCERNS over whistleblower Yuliya Stepanova’s safety have beeen raised after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) revealed her Anti-Doping Administration and Management System (ADAMS) password had been “illegally obtained”.
The ADAMS database allows WADA to keep track of an athlete’s location for the purpose of out-ofcompetition drugs testing.
Stepanova (pictured) and her husband Vitaly Stepanova provided key evidence in the investigation into Russian state-sponsored doping, but the couple fled Russia through fear of retribution.
WADA’s statement read: “The Agency noted that someone, other than Ms. Stepanova, had accessed her account. WADA immediately locked Ms. Stepanova’s account to prevent further access and notified her of the situation.”
