IF THERE was ever a story which encapsulates the steely determination of British 1500m record-holder Laura Muir it is one remembered well by Britain’s 2009 world 800m bronze medallist Jenny Meadows.
Meadows announced her retirement earlier this month after competing at the European Championships, and had been running as a pacemaker on the Diamond League circuit.
“When I paced her in Oslo it was supposed to be a mile world record attempt. It wasn’t the best night for it. It was cold and windy,” Meadows told AW about the race where Muir finished second in a new personal best time of 4:19.12.
“Just before Faith Kipyegon was doubting whether she would go with the pace. I just informed Laura that Faith might not go with it and Laura’s response was ‘I’ll go with you.’ It gave me goosebumps.
