THE INAUGURAL Manchester International will take place next month, giving athletes the chance to compete for their country in high-level domestic competition.
Teams representing England, Scotland, Wales, Great Britain under-20s and the UK Armed Forces will renew rivalries on August 17 at the Manchester Regional Arena, which also plays host to British Athletics League and UK Women’s League fixtures.

Dean Hardman, spokesman for England Athletics, said: “We felt that there are too few opportunities for athletes to experience international competition and wanted to bridge the gap between good national level competition and the European or global stage and see this event as developing into the highlight of the domestic track and field season.”
