AT THEIR 1959 WILLIAM KRISEL-DESIGNED HOME, Dane Kealoha and Christopher Johnson have created a perfect Palm Springs getaway. Poolside, “The umbrellas are definitely a highlight” says Dane. “They are new, manufactured by California Umbrella Co. and purchased locally. We were inspired to get these from seeing a similar yellow scalloped umbrella in the Slim Aarons photo ‘Poolside Gossip.’” That iconic image, shot in February of 1970, was taken at a Richard Neutra home and features a palette of yellow, white and fabulous. Although the umbrellas Dane and Christopher own are new, “they have a vintage Palm Springs style that gives our pool area that old poolside glam feel.” For more on their home, see “Racquet Club Revival” on page 44.
