IT WAS A CASE OF third time lucky for David Mills, the London-based comedian who has been working the comedy circuit for the past six years. After catching his act, a leading casting director brought him in to read for a role in the Stephen Frears film, Philomena. He didn’t get it. Then he tried out again, this time for The Program. He wasn’t right for that part either.
But then he struck it lucky. “I got an email saying there was a new Stephen Frears film, and asking if I was free in May and June,” he says over a coffee in an East London café. “They said it was with Meryl Streep and I thought, OK, I’m free. I will clear my schedule. Believe me.”
