The Boys in the Band

Lukas Graham are the Danish band who have achieved huge success with their massive number one single 7 Years. Attitude talks to them about dealing with success, the death of a father figure and their interesting take on whether gay men are “manly”…

7 Years is not your average pop song. It’s not about sex, money or falling in love. It was written after Danish singer/songwriter Lukas Graham’s father passed away in 2012, aged 61. Like most people who have experienced a similar pain will tell you, losing a father is life-changing if you looked up to that man as a role model. The evidence would suggest many people relate because the song has been the band’s key to international success, topping the charts not only in Denmark but also Norway, Sweden, Austria, Australia, New Zealand and the UK. It has made their outspoken frontman, Lukas Graham Forchhammer, 27, a recognisable face, and presumably influential to their young fans.
